Join us for the fifth annual Pantry Bowl from Nov. 3 to 30, when NC State, Carolina and our supporters rally together to combat food insecurity on our campuses.

Over the last four years, Pantry Bowl donors have raised nearly $630,000 for our food pantries. This milestone year is your chance to keep the momentum going. Your gift to the Pantry Bowl provides essential food and supplies to those who need it most and helps strengthen our communities.

Whether you’re rooting for Feed the Pack or the Carolina Food Pantry Network, you’re making a big impact. The university with the most gifts may win the Pantry Bowl, but when we come together to tackle hunger, we’re all winners.

Susan and Perry Safran will make an additional $10,000 gift if NC State surpasses last year’s gift total of 1,521 gifts.

UNC Challenge

An anonymous donor will give $25,000 when UNC reaches 800 unique donors.

What is the Pantry Bowl?

The Pantry Bowl is an annual fundraising initiative that unites two passionate fan bases — the Wolfpack and the Tar Heels — to bring awareness to the issue of food insecurity, which affects as many as 1 in 5 people on college campuses. Gifts will support each university’s food pantry, Feed the Pack and Carolina Food Pantry Network. Last year’s Pantry Bowl raised $179,744 from 2,367 gifts — nearly double the dollars and gifts of the competition’s first year!

How do I give?

Visit this page Nov. 3-30 and choose the button for the university food pantry you wish to support. You will be directed to that university’s giving form, and your gift will be processed like any other gift made to NC State or Carolina. The minimum amount for a gift is $5.

What does Feed the Pack Food Pantry support?

The mission of Feed the Pack Food Pantry is to help meet the needs of all members of the NC State community with dignity and respect. You can learn more about Feed the Pack at NC State here. 

What does the Carolina Food Pantry Network support?

The Carolina Food Pantry Network funds multiple pantry locations across campus and serves Carolina students facing food insecurity. Not only does the fund provide nutritious meals, but also other items such as personal care and hygiene products.

How often will the gift total be updated during the competition?

The site will be updated every 15 minutes, with the final totals revealed on Dec. 1.

Is my donation tax-deductible?

Your gift is tax-deductible. You will receive a receipt via email for tax purposes.

Can I donate food and hygiene items?

Thank you for your interest! While food and other items will not count for this competition, both pantries do accept these donations. Learn more at the following links:

Thank you! Recurring gifts help each pantry provide consistent resources throughout the year. Visit the Feed the Pack or Carolina Food Pantry Network giving forms to create a recurring gift.

How does my gift make a difference?

Gifts of all sizes make a big difference. For every dollar given, our pantries can purchase 1.14 pounds of food. That means that: 

  • $10 = 11.43 lbs of food
  • $25 = 28.5 lbs of food
  • $100 =114 lbs of food
  • $250 = 285 lbs of food
